Network Administrator
The Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining the local area network including hardware, software and telecommunication services. The qualified applicant must have a wide area of experience, ranging from desktop support to network administration. He or she must also be able to manage projects, maintain deadlines, adapt rapidly to change and work well under pressure. The position requires attention to detail and strict adherence to documentation in order to uphold standards and conventions.
Position Requirements:
- Installs and maintains local area network hardware, software, and telecommunication services including personal computers, software applications, printers, servers, switches, phones, etc.
- Diagnoses and resolves difficult problems in hardware, applications, and operating systems. Escalates complex problems to next level of support as appropriate.
- Monitors servers and automated backup system health and performance.
- Investigates problems and works with vendor support to find solutions.
- Maintains system security and patch levels.
- Performs server builds, upgrades, performance tuning, data recovery, backups, performance and functional testing.
- Provides technical input for policies and procedures.
- Develops and maintains accurate documentation for servers.
- Adheres to change management procedures and policies.
- Researches and investigates problems and develops viable solutions; reports recommendations clearly and effectively to the team.
- Coordinates activities with other Information Technology members.
- Responds to outages both during business hours and in an after-hours on-call capacity.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- 3-5 years network administration experience.
- Professional written and oral communication skills are a must.
- Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
Special consideration will be given to candidates with:
- In-depth understanding of networking topology, firewalls, intrusion detection systems
- Installing/configuring/troubleshooting Windows 2003 Clustering Services
- Installing/configuring Citrix Metaframe Presentation Server 3.0 and later
- 2+ years Administering Tivoli Storage Manager
